Special Track
On
Requirements Engineering
Requirements
Engineering (RE) continues to occupy central importance in information and
software systems engineering. As inadequate attention has been often given to
the practice of defining the information and software systems requirements
prior to involvement with the development. Software and Information Systems
requirements definition problems has long been, and continue to be, a major
case for systems failure, which can sometimes be catastrophic. Even without
failure, problems with requirements determination activities can have a major
effect on the total quality of the resultant information systems and the
maintenance efforts that continue for years afterwards.
This track aims to shed light on recent issues, the approaches proposed for resolving them, and to instigate a healthy debate for dealing with current requirements engineering issues.
The main
aim of this track is to establish a dialogue about the effective use of
techniques, formalisms and tools, as well as their combinations in order to
address requirements engineering issues for software and technology-intensive
information systems. The track also aims to highlight outstanding issues that
should form a part of the forthcoming research agenda in the area of the
relevance and operationalization of research methodology issues in requirements
engineering.
The following
is a non-exhaustive list of topics covered by the track:
Invited Speaker
Prof. Colette Rolland, Professor of Computer Science.
Informatics & Mathematics Department
University Paris-1 Pantheon Sorbonne, France.
Galal Hassan Galal-Edeen,
Faculty of Computers and Information, Cairo University.

High quality submissions are sought under the following categories (each submission should indicate category as footnote in the first page of the paper):
- Technical papers should present novel and solutions that the state of the art for Requirements Engineering.
- Industrial practice and experiences papers should present problems or challenges covering the state of practice and real-world experiences in RE.
- Vision papers should be revealing, thought-provoking and propose new views and theories underpinning the RE theory and practice.
