Requirements Engineering

Requirements Engineering (RE) continues to occupy central importance in information and software systems engineering. As inadequate attention has been often given to the practice of defining the information and software systems requirements prior to involvement with the development. Software and Information Systems requirements definition problems has long been, and continue to be, a major case for systems failure, which can sometimes be catastrophic. Even without failure, problems with requirements determination activities can have a major effect on the total quality of the resultant information systems and the maintenance efforts that continue for years afterwards.

This track aims to shed light on recent issues, the approaches proposed for resolving them, and to instigate a healthy debate for dealing with current requirements engineering issues.

The main aim of this track is to establish a dialogue about the effective use of techniques, formalisms and tools, as well as their combinations in order to address requirements engineering issues for software and technology-intensive information systems. The track also aims to highlight outstanding issues that should form a part of the forthcoming research agenda in the area of the relevance and operationalization of research methodology issues in requirements engineering.
